In the spring of 2025, a severe natural disaster hit one of the most well-known tourist destinations in Székely Land: the salt mine of Praid. Due to a sudden water infiltration, the mine had to suspend operations indefinitely, making not only an iconic attraction inaccessible, but also endangering the livelihood of hundreds of local businesses. Accommodation providers, restaurants, small shops, suppliers, program organizers, and other tourism service providers all felt the significant decline.
